People Behind Cara Care: Dr. Martin Storr
Dr. Martin Storr supervises the mental health protocols used in the Cara Care app, helping us ensure that the medical content and concepts are effective and reflect the latest science of digestive health. We appreciate how actively involved he is an advisor—he digs in and gets his hands dirty, making sure the users get the best possible care for their condition.
Martin is a specialist for internal medicine and gastroenterology and teaches at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. He is a member of the guideline group for irritable bowel syndrome, and is currently working on the new version of the German guideline. He specializes in functional digestive diseases, food intolerances, and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. Martin has written numerous patient guides, is well-acquainted with the needs of those affected, and is considered one of the most renowned experts on these diseases.
1. What’s your story? How did you become an expert in gastroenterology and functional GI diseases?
I became interested in bowel function early in my medical career. In addition to my work as an internist and gastroenterologist, I was very curious about various scientific topics. With great mentors, a lot of hard work, excellent employees and courageous decisions, I am now involved in an international network around clinical research, translational research, and outstanding science.
2. Where do you see digital health offerings moving to in the next five years?
As in many other areas of life, I see digitization as extremely helpful. In medicine, I expect not only an optimization of administration and procedures, but also important support in diagnostics and therapy at all levels of decision-making.
3. You’re an advisor for Cara Care. What do you think is something unique that Cara Care offers?
