Kate is Cara Care's People & HR Manager. She's managed the transition to remote work during COVID-19, which has brought unique challenges to folks working in People & HR around the world. We're particularly grateful for Kate and her work during this time.
What’s your story? How did you end up at Cara Care?
I'm originally from Ireland but have been based in Berlin since 2014 and have been working in HR for over 4 years now. I am responsible for end-to-end recruitment, Payroll & HR at Cara Care. I really enjoy getting to meet people from all walks of life and from all different backgrounds. In the past, I have specialised in supporting international candidates in relocating them and their families to Berlin and supporting them with a smooth transition to life in 'bureaucratic' Germany. I was always on the lookout for a role that would actually make a difference. Cara Care fitted perfectly! Not only do we have an amazing team here but we are also all working together to empower our users to live healthier and happier lives.
What have you learned about digestive health since working here?
I've learned so much about digestive health since working at Cara Care. Primarily, the close connection between mental health and gut health. Stress and anxiety can be huge factors that affect your digestive health. As digestive health can still be a taboo topic, I was also surprised to learn that so many young people suffer with GI illnesses. At Cara Care, our team empowers our users by looking at preventative measures and self management so that the user can learn to support themselves.
What do you like about your work at Cara Care?
What I like the most about working at Cara Care is the fact that you are given so much responsibility from day one. This means that it's possible to see your own individual impact. We also have a brilliant team and an inspirational mission!
