1. What’s your story? How did you become an expert in gastroenterology and functional GI diseases?

I became interested in bowel function early in my medical career. In addition to my work as an internist and gastroenterologist, I was very curious about various scientific topics. With great mentors, a lot of hard work, excellent employees and courageous decisions, I am now involved in an international network around clinical research, translational research, and outstanding science.

2. Where do you see digital health offerings moving to in the next five years?

As in many other areas of life, I see digitization as extremely helpful. In medicine, I expect not only an optimization of administration and procedures, but also important support in diagnostics and therapy at all levels of decision-making.

3. You’re an advisor for Cara Care. What do you think is something unique that Cara Care offers?

Cara Care strikes me through a flexible, youthful, fresh team which is passionate about employing digital technologies to break new ground in improving patient care. I am glad that I can support this team with my thoughts and experience and I am convinced that the tools developed will be extremely helpful to users.
