Insights into American pooping problems
Together with Stefan Lueth, respected gastroenterologist in our advisory board and professor of internal medicine at Brandenburg Clinic in Germany, we have analyzed 1.2M data points from over 30k Americans who were tracking their diet, gastrointestinal symptoms and bowel movements with Cara.
By the way, we have gathered 7 easy remedies for constiptaion relief. It is a must watch...
The research reveals local differences in digestive health in the United States. West Virginia, Missouri and Louisiana are the states with the most severe symptoms. People in these states have significantly more severe gastrointestinal symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation and bloating. It is also striking that both men and women suffer most from bloating. However, women tend to have more severe symptoms and while they suffer more from constipation, men are more prone to diarrhea. And by the way, many Americans seem to have their favourite pooping time and only a few do not mind pooping in public.
The symptom score is calculated on the basis of the symptoms tracked with Cara. The value can be between 0 and 100. The higher the symptom score, the more severe are the digestive problems in the region.
